Syfy announced today that Van Helsing has been picked up for a fifth and final season. The news, which comes three days ahead of its fourth-season finale, ensures that showrunners will have plenty of time to craft a fitting end to the saga on their own terms.

Van Helsing is a re-imagining of the perennial Dracula brand that follows the resurrection of Vanessa Helsing, a descendent of the legendary Van Helsing lineage of warriors, and her quest to lead mankind against a world controlled by vampires in the post-Rising landscape.

It is being reported that CBS All Access has cancelled Strange Angel after two seasons. The move comes four months after the historical period drama aired its sophomore finale, which now acts as its series-ender.

The show was the third original scripted drama on the streaming service, but was actually the first without any roots in a previous series; preceding dramas The Good Fight and Star Trek: Discovery are both spinoffs. While viewership data is not released, Strange Angel seemed to fly under the radar a bit in terms of popularity, though it did receive a generally-positive critical reception.

Based on George Pendle's book of the same name, Strange Angel follows the real-life story of Jack Parsons, a brilliant blue-collar worker in 1930s Los Angeles who began as a janitor at a chemical factory but had fantastical dreams that led him to birth the unknown discipline of American rocketry. Along the way, he fell into a mysterious world where he become a disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley, whose teachings of self-actualization supported Parsons' unprecedented endeavor to the stars.

It is being reported that Amazon has picked up Undone for a second season. The adult animated dramedy premiered in September with an eight-episode run that has garnered strong critical acclaim.

Animated using a technique called rotoscoping, where animators trace over motion picture footage, the series follows a woman from San Antonio, Texas who nearly lost her life in a car accident. Since that fateful day, she has discovered that she has a unique relationship with time. She develops this newfound ability to find out the truth about her father's death.

Netflix has given The Witcher an early vote of confidence, picking up a second season of the fantasy drama over a month before its debut. The streaming service has ordered eight episodes for the sophomore run of the show, matching the length of its first season.

Perhaps best known for the popular series of video games, The Witcher originated as a series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. The TV series follows a monster hunter by the name of Geralt of Rivia, who is struggling to find his place in a world where people are often more wicked than beasts. When destiny unites him with a powerful sorceress and a young princess, the three must work to navigate the volatile Continent together.

The Witcher premieres on Netflix on December 20. Season 2 is slated for a 2021 release.

Amazon announced today that Goliath has been picked up for a fourth and final season. The legal drama, which comes from David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro, returned in October for Season 3 and is once again garnering generally-positive reviews.

Goliath stars Billy Bob Thornton as Billy McBride, a washed up lawyer frequenting more bars than courtrooms. After agreeing to look into a wrongful death lawsuit against the biggest client of the powerful firm he helped create, Billy and his motley crew uncover a deadly conspiracy that finds them in a life-or-death trial with the odds stacked against them.

NBC announced today that Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been picked up for an eighth season. The good news comes three months ahead of the cop comedy's Season 7 premiere, which is slated for February 6.

The half-hour series returned to the air earlier this year for its sixth season after being cancelled by Fox in 2018. Now a midseason player, the show is performing well for its new network, with solid linear ratings and a strong presence online. Critical reception continues to be positive as well.

Led by Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg, Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows an offbeat group of detectives and staff at the 99th precinct of the New York Police Department. Samberg plays the eclectic Jake Peralta, a talented but immature detective whose carefree style clashes with his stern, by-the-books captain, played by Andre Braugher.

Shudder announced today that Creepshow has been picked up for a second season. The good news arrives on the eve of the show's Halloween freshman finale, which will conclude a successful debut run.

The comedic horror anthology series premiered in September as the first hour-long original on the AMC-owned streaming service. On top of drawing critical acclaim, the show is pulling in record audiences according to the outlet.

Epix announced today that Pennyworth has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes a month after the drama wrapped its freshman run, which was a successful one for the cable network.

Per Epix, the series was the best-performing original to ever premiere on the network, with over double the viewership of any other show before it. Word is out that Freeform will not be ordering a third season of Marvel's Cloak & Dagger, cancelling the show after two seasons. The sad news comes nearly five months after the comic-based drama aired its sophomore finale, which will now act as its series ender.

Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Cloak & Dagger follows the lives of two teenagers named Tandy and Tyrone. While they come from very different backgrounds, they are awakened to newfound superpowers that mysteriously link them to each other.

The hour-long series premiered in 2018 to critical praise and solid viewership numbers, with its debut run ranking as one of that summer's top cable dramas in key demographics. It couldn't sustain that momentum going into Season 2, however, as ratings slipped considerably.

Fox announced today that Prodigal Son has been topped up with nine additional episodes, making it the first new show of the fall to earn a full-season pickup. The good news comes just two episodes into the drama's freshman run, which is off to a solid start in the ratings.

Tom Payne stars in the series as Malcolm Bright, a criminal psychologist with a special gift of knowing how the minds of killers work. This is because in the 1990s, his dad was a notorious serial killer known as "The Surgeon." He uses his ability to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers, all while dealing with his manipulative mother, played by Bellamy Young, and homicidal father, played by Michael Sheen, who is still looking to bond with his prodigal son.

Today's New York Comic Con panel for The Walking Dead delivered some good, albeit obvious, news for the series in the form of a pickup for Season 11. Showrunner Angela Kang made the announcement, which comes just a day ahead of the post-apocalyptic horror drama's 10th season premiere.

The long-running series continues to rank as one of cable television's top scripted series, though its current audience numbers are far from what they were in its heyday. To paint a picture, viewership in Season 9 was pulling in numbers similar to what it was drawing way back in Season 1, before it gained 'hit' status.

It was also announced today that Lauren Cohan will making a return to the show in Season 10, bringing fan-favorite character Maggie Greene back into the fold. The news was somewhat expected, as the series Cohan left The Walking Dead to pursue, Whiskey Cavalier, was cancelled after its first season.

Netflix announced today that Stranger Things has been picked up for a fourth season. The good news, which is really no surprise given the series' continued popularity, comes just under three months after the drama's Season 3 release.

The 1980s-themed horror/mystery drama burst onto the scene in 2016 and quickly gained a huge pop culture following backed by plenty of critical praise and awards. Everything from its captivating storytelling and likable characters, to its creepy atmosphere and nostalgic references, really struck a chord with a wide range of viewers.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things takes place in Hawkins, Indiana and follows a group of kids who become friends with a mysterious girl that possesses psychokinetic abilities. They discover an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down, which starts to have an increasing affect on the town and its residents.

There is not much known regarding Season 4 in terms of returning cast members or story line, but a teaser released today reveals that the setting will, at least in part, take place outside of Hawkins. While no premiere date is known, a mid-to-late 2020 return appears likely.

Showtime announced today that 'On Becoming a God in Central Florida' has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes midway through the black comedy's run, which has so-far received a mostly-positive critical reception.

Set in the 1990s, the series stars Kirsten Dunst as Krystal Stubbs, an Orlando water park employee who lies, cheats, and cons her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise, which is the same cultish, multibillion-dollar pyramid scheme that ruined her family in the first place. As she uses the scheme to make a better life for herself, Krystal realizes that her shady business venture is starting to affect those close to her.

Comedy Central announced today that South Park has been picked up for Seasons 24, 25, and 26. The renewal is similar to the one it received in 2015, which was also a three-season order for a total of 30 episodes. The news comes two weeks ahead of the animated comedy's 23rd season premiere.

South Park is the longest-running primetime cable scripted series on television, and has also been the top-rated primetime cable comedy for the last six years. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have written and directed every episode since its inception in 1997, and will continue to do so moving forward.
