Howard Schultz the creator of reality series dating Naked and Extreme Makeover died unexpectedly on while vacationing with his family in Hawaii. He was 61. Schultz got his start working for ABC's Chicago affiliate. He won first local Emmy working on a live morning talk show and his second for a local late-night show. He then moved to Los Angeles and developed the NBC hit Real People before joining Fox in 1991, where he developed and executive-produced the syndication hit Studs, which helped pioneer the relationship shows genre on the small screen.

Schultz formed Lighthearted Entertainment in 1992, which produced reality hits such as Next, The Moment of Truth, Happy Hour, Bedroom Buddies, Jones & Jury, The Smarter Sex and The Big Date. His company had most recently developed MTV's Are You The One and two hits for VH1, Dating Naked and Bye Felicia. Schultz had most recently sold a reality competition series to VH1 tentatively called Twinning, featuring 12 sets of twin going through various challenges. The show is expected to premiere in the summer. "VH1 is heartbroken to hear of Howard's passing. Howard was a wonderful man, a true partner and a visionary producer. We will miss him," the network said in a statement. Schultz is survived by his wife, Tana, two sons and a stepson.

The son of Edward Herrmann says the "Gilmore Girls" star and Tony Award-winner has died.

Rory Herrmann said that his father died Wednesday in a New York City hospital where he was being treated for brain cancer. Edward Herrmann was 71.

The towering, 6-foot-5 actor with the melodious voice made his mark on stage, on screen and as the narrator of a number of documentaries.

He also provided the voice for Franklin D. Roosevelt in Ken Burns' documentary series "The Roosevelts: An Intimate History," which aired on PBS earlier this year.

After her reign as Miss America in 1959, Mobley got her start on television shows such as Burke's Law in 1963 and Perry Mason in 1964. In 1965, she starred opposite Elvis Presley in a pair of movies, Girl Happy and Harum Scarum, and took home the Golden Globe award for New Star of the Year. Joe Cocker, the British singer who had numerous hits in the 1970s and '80s including a barrel-throated rendition of "With a Little Help From My Friends," has died, according to BBC News. He was 70.

Cocker died of an undisclosed illness, his agent Barrie Marshall, told BBC News.

Cocker was known for his raspy-bluesy style and the physical effort he put into performing -- a style famously spoofed on "Saturday Night Live" by John Belushi.

Cocker scored a No. 1 hit in 1982 with "Up Where We Belong," a duet with Jennifer Warnes that was featured as the theme song to the film "An Officer and a Gentleman." The song won the Oscar for writers Jack Nitzsche, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Will Jennings.

A native of Sheffield, Cocker got his start singing in local pubs before he hit as a recording artist in 1969 with the gospel-flavored take on the Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends." He teamed with producer Leon Russell the following year for a massive U.S. tour with a huge band that yielded the successful double album "Mad Dogs and Englishmen."

Safety Orlando Thomas, who led the NFL in interceptions during his rookie season in 1995 with nine, died Sunday night of ALS. He was 42. Thomas had been battling ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; also known as Lou Gehrig's disease) in Crowley, Louisiana. "Nobody's ever fought a battle like Orlando fought, with so much dignity, I never saw anything like it," Bartelstein said Monday morning. "It's just incredible. He never had a sense of self pity, never felt sorry for himself, he was always worried about everyone else. He was just the most incredible person I've ever been around."

When Thomas played for the Vikings from 1995 through 2001, he weighed 225 pounds. When Thomas died, he was down almost 70 pounds, Bartelstein said. Some of Thomas' former Vikings teammates took to Twitter to remember him, including wide receivers Randy Moss and Jake Reed.
