Yasmany Tomas and the Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to a $68.5 million contract for six years and has an opt-out clause after four years. He is the latest Cuban to sign with a major league team and has spent the seven years playing for the Havana industries. He is twenty-four, batted 375, with two home runs and five RBIs in last year’s world baseball classic.

Arizona went a major league-worst 64-98 last season, fired manager Kirk Gibson and reassigned general manager Kevin Towers. In total dollars among Cuban players, Tomas' deal would fall just short of the $72.5 million, seven-year contract agreed to in August between Castillo and the Boston Red Sox.

Jadeveon Clowney, who is outside linebacker for The Texans is having a great deal of pain and swelling in his surgically repaired knee, but only when he plays. He has not been to practice yet this week, and says that he will test the knee before a game, but believes his chances for playing are slim.

Clowney said, "A lot of pain right now, just been bothering me off and on the whole season, something I've got to push through, but when the swelling comes up, it's a little setback."

He reached out to inside linebacker Brian Cushing, who has also had major surgery on the same knee. Clowney said, "I told him before the game my knee was bothering me during the week, he was like, 'Come out here and do the warm-up I do.'"

He decided that he was going to play one way or another, so he copied Cushing’s warm-up in order to help him loosen up. He tore his meniscus in the first game of the season and had surgery the next day, was out for six games, played one and then missed another because of a combination of flu-like symptoms and the knee injury.

"I'm kind of surprised; I thought it would have been over," he said. "I thought it'd be back to where it was by now. Some people react differently to injuries. ... Right now I just think it's letting it heal. You push it, push it, then it swells. You've got to let it go back down again. Right now just letting it heal and try to get it back to where it was before I got hurt.

Calvin Johnson, a wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, breaks another record on Thanksgiving Day in the game against the Chicago Bears. With his 115^th career receive he passed ten-thousand yards. The record was previously set by Torry Holt who hit the record of ten-thousand yards in 116 games.

Johnson said, "That's big, especially for a receiver, to be able to do it, in the fashion that we were able to do it and with the help I have from the rest of my teammates, we all share and take part in that.”

He had eleven catches, made two touchdowns and ran 146 yards during the first half of the game to bring his total up to ten-thousand and fifty-two yards. He also passed Eric Moulds in all time receiving yards and is rapidly approaching Shannon Sharp’s all time record of ten-thousand sixty yards.

Xavier Henry of the Los Angeles Lakers has ruptured his left Achilles and will be out for the rest of the season. An MRI confirmed the injury that he sustained during practice and is scheduled to have sugery and he is the third player to be declared out for this season.

Eric Gordon is out indefinitely with an injured shoulder. He had an MRI that revealed a torn labrum that happened when he collided with a guard on the Jazz team. He has started all twelve games this season for the Pelicans, but has missed a total 115 games during his career. He averages 9.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2 assists per game.

Kevin Martin has had surgery on a fractured wrist; he is expected to be out six to eight weeks. He injured his wrist when he was fouled while shooting a three pointer. At the time he was the best thing that the Timberwolves had going after losing two other players earlier this season.

Ray Sadecki has died from complication of blood cancer, he was seventy-three. Sadecki played for eighteen seasons and helped the St. Louis Cardinals win the 1964 World Series. He started the Major League in 1960 when he was only nineteen. He was traded to the San Francisco Giants in 1966. He was a left hander and had a 135-131 career record with a 3.78 ERA.

The thirty-five year old player with 195 career home runs and a 253 hitting average is retiring after eleven years in the major league. He has played on the Nationals, the Athletics, the Twins and the Royals. He played his best season in 2012 with thirty-five runs 110 RBIs and won a Silver Slugger award.

The Dodgers have acquired Juan Nicasio from the Rockies for an undetermined amount, the Rockies could ask for cash or another player. The Dodgers seem to be continuing their trend of acquiring young pitchers that could start training this spring. Nicasio is 28 and went 6-6 with a 5.38 ERA last season and is 21-22 with a 5.03 ERA over all. He made over $2 million in the previous season and is eligible for arbitration.

NHL coach and former defenseman, Pat Quinn, has died at 71. He played for nine seasons, coached four teams, and guided Canada to the 2002 Olympic Championship for a gold medal. He was involved in hockey for over a half a century.

Police responded to a call at 2:36am on Saturday, Nov. 22 in downtown Cleveland. A man reported that he was assaulted by Johnny Manziel’s entourage because he seen Johnny and wanted to give him a hug. He was attacked after seeing Johnny outside an elevator and approaching him with the offer of the hug, stating that he was the biggest Brown’s fan ever.

Hanley Ramirez has agreed with Boston Red Sox to a four year deal for $88 million with a fifth year vesting of $22 million. Ramirez has played shortstop for his ten year career, but has said that he is willing to play other position. He became a free agent earlier this month when he rejected an offer from the LA Dodger for $15.3 million.
