Steven Moffat, the showrunner of the series and current captain of the franchise, had repeatedly (and somewhat humorously) dismissed Yates' idea of a movie, but Yates insisted the film was happening. On Tuesday, Moffat finally (hopefully) shut down rumors of any sort of movie spin-off.
