Syfy announced today that Van Helsing has been picked up for a fifth and final season. The news, which comes three days ahead of its fourth-season finale, ensures that showrunners will have plenty of time to craft a fitting end to the saga on their own terms.

Van Helsing is a re-imagining of the perennial Dracula brand that follows the resurrection of Vanessa Helsing, a descendent of the legendary Van Helsing lineage of warriors, and her quest to lead mankind against a world controlled by vampires in the post-Rising landscape.

It is being reported that Amazon has picked up Undone for a second season. The adult animated dramedy premiered in September with an eight-episode run that has garnered strong critical acclaim.

Animated using a technique called rotoscoping, where animators trace over motion picture footage, the series follows a woman from San Antonio, Texas who nearly lost her life in a car accident. Since that fateful day, she has discovered that she has a unique relationship with time. She develops this newfound ability to find out the truth about her father's death.

Netflix has given The Witcher an early vote of confidence, picking up a second season of the fantasy drama over a month before its debut. The streaming service has ordered eight episodes for the sophomore run of the show, matching the length of its first season.

Perhaps best known for the popular series of video games, The Witcher originated as a series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. The TV series follows a monster hunter by the name of Geralt of Rivia, who is struggling to find his place in a world where people are often more wicked than beasts. When destiny unites him with a powerful sorceress and a young princess, the three must work to navigate the volatile Continent together.

The Witcher premieres on Netflix on December 20. Season 2 is slated for a 2021 release.

Amazon announced today that Goliath has been picked up for a fourth and final season. The legal drama, which comes from David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro, returned in October for Season 3 and is once again garnering generally-positive reviews.

Goliath stars Billy Bob Thornton as Billy McBride, a washed up lawyer frequenting more bars than courtrooms. After agreeing to look into a wrongful death lawsuit against the biggest client of the powerful firm he helped create, Billy and his motley crew uncover a deadly conspiracy that finds them in a life-or-death trial with the odds stacked against them.

NBC announced today that Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been picked up for an eighth season. The good news comes three months ahead of the cop comedy's Season 7 premiere, which is slated for February 6.

The half-hour series returned to the air earlier this year for its sixth season after being cancelled by Fox in 2018. Now a midseason player, the show is performing well for its new network, with solid linear ratings and a strong presence online. Critical reception continues to be positive as well.

Led by Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg, Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows an offbeat group of detectives and staff at the 99th precinct of the New York Police Department. Samberg plays the eclectic Jake Peralta, a talented but immature detective whose carefree style clashes with his stern, by-the-books captain, played by Andre Braugher.

Shudder announced today that Creepshow has been picked up for a second season. The good news arrives on the eve of the show's Halloween freshman finale, which will conclude a successful debut run.

Epix announced today that Pennyworth has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes a month after the drama wrapped its freshman run, which was a successful one for the cable network.

ABC has topped up The Rookie's second season, adding an additional seven episodes to its original order of 13. That gives the cop drama a total of 20 episodes for the 2019-2020 season, matching the length of its freshman run.

Set in the same universe as The CW's other superhero shows, Batwoman takes place years after Batman mysteriously disappeared from Gotham, leaving the city to fall into despair. Two weeks after its sophomore finale, The Outpost has been picked up for a third season. The fantasy adventure drama continued its run this summer, garnering similar ratings to its first season.

The series follows Talon, a Blackblood whose village was destroyed by a gang of mercenaries years ago. Now the only remaining member of her race, she travels to a lawless fortress on the edge of civilization looking for her family's killer. On her way to the outpost, Talon learns that she possesses a supernatural power that she must harness in order to save herself and defend the world against a radical religious dictator.

Today's New York Comic Con panel for The Walking Dead delivered some good, albeit obvious, news for the series in the form of a pickup for Season 11. Showrunner Angela Kang made the announcement, which comes just a day ahead of the post-apocalyptic horror drama's 10th season premiere.

The long-running series continues to rank as one of cable television's top scripted series, though its current audience numbers are far from what they were in its heyday. To paint a picture, viewership in Season 9 was pulling in numbers similar to what it was drawing way back in Season 1, before it gained 'hit' status.

It was also announced today that Lauren Cohan will making a return to the show in Season 10, bringing fan-favorite character Maggie Greene back into the fold. Netflix announced today that Stranger Things has been picked up for a fourth season. The good news, which is really no surprise given the series' continued popularity, comes just under three months after the drama's Season 3 release.

The 1980s-themed horror/mystery drama burst onto the scene in 2016 and quickly gained a huge pop culture following backed by plenty of critical praise and awards. Everything from its captivating storytelling and likable characters, to its creepy atmosphere and nostalgic references, really struck a chord with a wide range of viewers.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things takes place in Hawkins, Indiana and follows a group of kids who become friends with a mysterious girl that possesses psychokinetic abilities. They discover an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down, which starts to have an increasing affect on the town and its residents.

There is not much known regarding Season 4 in terms of returning cast members or story line, but a teaser released today reveals that the setting will, at least in part, take place outside of Hawkins. While no premiere date is known, a mid-to-late 2020 return appears likely.

Showtime announced today that 'On Becoming a God in Central Florida' has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes midway through the black comedy's run, which has so-far received a mostly-positive critical reception.

Set in the 1990s, the series stars Kirsten Dunst as Krystal Stubbs, an Orlando water park employee who lies, cheats, and cons her way up the ranks of Founders American Merchandise, which is the same cultish, multibillion-dollar pyramid scheme that ruined her family in the first place. As she uses the scheme to make a better life for herself, Krystal realizes that her shady business venture is starting to affect those close to her.

Comedy Central announced today that South Park has been picked up for Seasons 24, 25, and 26. The renewal is similar to the one it received in 2015, which was also a three-season order for a total of 30 episodes. The news comes two weeks ahead of the animated comedy's 23rd season premiere.

South Park is the longest-running primetime cable scripted series on television, and has also been the top-rated primetime cable comedy for the last six years. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have written and directed every episode since its inception in 1997, and will continue to do so moving forward.

HBO announced today that Succession has been picked up for a third season. The good news comes two episodes into the drama's sophomore run, which has once again been garnering high critical acclaim.

Amazon announced today that The Expanse has been picked up for a fifth season. The good news comes months ahead of Season 4, which has yet to debut at its new streaming home since the online giant revived it from cancellation last year.

The critically-acclaimed space opera started out on Syfy, where it aired its first three seasons between 2015 and 2018. After getting axed from the cable network, there was a substantial outcry from fans, resulting in a #SaveTheExpanse online campaign that included an online petition with over 130,000 signatures and a GoFundMe page which paid for an airplane banner that was flown over Amazon Studios in Santa Monica.

Hulu announced today that The Handmaid's Tale has been picked up for a fourth season. The good news was somewhat expected, as the book-based drama is still going strong in Season 3, maintaining its popularity and continuing to garner critical praise.

Based on the classic Margaret Atwood novel of the same name, The Handmaid's Tale takes place in a totalitarian society that was previously part of the United States. Amazon announced today that The Boys has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes a week before the new superhero drama premieres its first season on the online giant's Prime Video streaming service.

Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the series is set in a world where powerful and revered superheroes abuse their powers instead of using them for good. To combat this, a superpowered CIA squad is tasked with monitoring the community and exposing the truth about The Seven, and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets.

Season 1 of The Boys premieres on July 26 on Amazon Prime Video.

It was announced today that Fear the Walking Dead has been picked up by AMC for a sixth season. Executive Producer Scott M. Gimple broke the good news during the show's panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, just days ahead of this Sunday's mid-season finale.

The zombie drama, which began as a companion series to The Walking Dead, has seen some significant changes over the past two seasons. The new showrunner duo of Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg have altered its overall tone and storytelling style since Season 4, changing up the cast significantly as well. The show's timeline has also gotten closer to the mothership series, with two stars of The Walking Dead having now crossed over to Fear.

Look for Season 6 of Fear the Walking Dead to premiere in mid-2020. In the meantime, the second half of Season 5 returns on August 11.

Word is out that NBC Universal is reviving A.P. Bio for a third season on its upcoming streaming service. The good news comes two months after the comedy was cancelled following two low-rated seasons on NBC.

Created by Mike O'Brien and produced by Seth Meyers, the comedy premiered in 2018 as a mid-season entry that ultimately garnered mixed reviews and underwhelming viewership. Still, it was renewed for a second go-round, though its sophomore run did not improve its fortunes and it was axed in June.

Today's revival makes A.P. Bio the first confirmed original series on the as-yet-unnamed streaming service, which is set to debut sometime in 2020. While the show's return date has not been announced, Season 3 will likely premiere when the service launches.

The half-hour series follows a philosophy scholar who, after losing out on his dream job, takes a position as a high school Advanced Placement Biology teacher. But he has plans far beyond teaching biology, including using his classroom full of honor roll students to help him mentally break his job-stealing nemesis and win back the position that he feels is rightfully his.

CBS announced today that Blood & Treasure has been picked up for a second season. The summer adventure drama is seven episodes into its freshman run and has been performing decently for the network on Tuesday nights despite decidely-mixed reviews.

The hour-long series follows a brilliant antiquities expert who teams up with a cunning art thief in order to catch a ruthless terrorist who uses stolen treasure to fund his attacks. Ahead of tonight's sophomore premiere, Paramount Network announced today that Yellowstone has been picked up for a third season. The early renewal indicates that the network is anticipating another strong run from its sole scripted drama series, which was last year's most-watched new show on cable despite a mixed critical reception.

The series follows the Dutton family, who are owners of a Montana ranch that is the largest of its kind in America. Kevin Costner plays patriarch John, who leads the Duttons as they constantly contend with attacks from land developers, conflicts with the country's first national park, and tense encounters with a neighboring Indian reservation as they fight to keep their land in the family.
