Based on Cassandra Clare's best-selling book series The Mortal Instruments, the series follows a young girl who learns that she comes from a long line of human-angel hybrids known as Shadowhunters. After her mother is kidnapped, she becomes immersed in the world of demon hunting as she begins a journey of self-discovery in a new world filled with faeries, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves.

Shadowhunters continues to draw decent viewership in Season 2, after originally launching as the cable network's top-rated scripted original last year. Fox announced today that Lethal Weapon has been renewed for a second season. The good news comes as the buddy cop series is winding down its freshman run - one that fared quite well for a movie-adapted entry.

Television shows based on films quite often have a tough time making the transition to the small screen, with recent attempts at adapting such theatrical hits as Rush Hour, Limitless and Minority Report ultimately failing. Lethal Weapon has bucked that trend though, with a strong showing out of the gate that has developed into a solid presence for Fox on Wednesday nights.

Based on the movie franchise of the same name, Lethal Weapon follows iconic cop duo Riggs and Murtaugh as they team up to fight crime in the city of Los Angeles. Riggs is an ex-Navy SEAL-turned-detective who moves to California for a fresh start with the LAPD. His somewhat-reckless style of police work clashes with his new partner Murtaugh, whose technique is more reserved. Murtaugh, though, starts to take to Riggs' style as it starts to breathe new life into his daily grind.

Fox handed out its first freshman renewal of the season today, announcing that The Mick has been picked up for Season 2. The good news comes nine episodes into the new comedy's run and a month after the network extended its first season by four episodes.

The Mick stars Kaitlin Olson, best known her supporting role on FXX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, in her first leading role on network television. In the show Olson plays Mickey, an overbearing hustler from Rhode Island who is unexpectedly given guardianship of her estranged sister's three high-maintenance children.

The series has been a solid addition to Fox's lineup this year, where it reaches an average of 8 million viewers over its multiple delivery platforms. New episodes are currently airing on Tuesday nights at 8:30pm following New Girl. Eight episodes remain in the show's first season, including a new episode tonight.

The Librarians has been a solid performer over the course of its run, ranking as one of TNT's top-rated and most-watched series. The show is also among the top 20 basic cable dramas in the adults 18-49 demographic.

Amazon announced today that Sneaky Pete has been renewed for a second season. The good news comes just days after the drama released its full first season on the streaming service, where a strong start helped it earn today's early pickup. Word is the show had Amazon's second-most streamed opening day of any of its other original scripted series, with The Man in the High Castle holding top honors there.

Sneaky Pete originally debuted its pilot episode back in August of 2015 to gauge audience reception, as Amazon does with many of its original series. Positive feedback resulted in a full season order a month later, but production was eventually pushed back due to the departure of co-creator and showrunner David Shore.
