Starz announced today that American Gods has been picked up for a third season. The good news comes just days after the fantasy drama's long-awaited sophomore premiere, which returned nearly two years after Season 1 first premiered.
Adapted from the 2001 Neil Gaiman novel, American Gods follows ex-con and widower Shadow Moon, who has his life turned upside down not long after being released from prison. He meets a charismatic con man named Mr. Wednesday, who is actually an incarnation of the God Odin and looking to confront the new Gods, who have been growing stronger. Together, Mr. Wednesday and Shadow Moon begin a journey across America in an attempt to build an army of Old Gods that will battle for power against the New Gods.
A new showrunner is being brought in for Season 3. Charles "Chic" Eglee will be at the helm going forward, with hopes that the wait for the next season will perhaps be a little shorter this time around.
Look for Season 3 of American Gods hopefully in 2020.
