There's a whiff of murder in Sainte Victoire when Raffy Ozanneis found lying dead in his own shop, leaving his brotherRaimund distraught. Cooper was Ozanne Perfumery's last customerof the day and Raffy is locking up after him, when a robberwearing a clown mask forces his way in. He ties Raffy up, gagshim and steals the takings. Raffy starts to suffocate. Hearingthe commotion Raimund comes in, but he is too late to save hisbrother. Jean and Dom arrive at Ozanne's, as Raffy's body isbeing taken away. As well as the takings, an antique perfumebottle was stolen, and Caron needs Jean's help to trace it tothe murderer. The prime suspect is a group of robbers that havebeen operating in Toulouse, but they need proof. Gloria andCooper are having breakfast when Gendarme Richard calls toconfirm that she's bringing her car in to be fixed. Cooperoffers to take Douglas for a walk. Afterwards, Coopersurprises Gloria wearing a mask that Douglas dug up on hiswalk. Gendarme Richard recognises it as the mask worn by theToulouse robbers and immediately takes Cooper in forquestioning.
