Building a big house in inner city Melbourne is a trickybusiness stymied by heritage overlays, a lack of availablespace and soaring property prices. But architect Annalise andproject manager Kim have a plan to thwart those hurdles andturn their tiny 1850s Carlton terrace into a multi-storiedmodern home with a large garden and a triple car-stacker. Theirsecret - to dig down and build up and out - creating aremarkable home that bridges the old and the new, andredefines living in the inner city.
