It's quarter-final time, and that can only mean more pressurefor this week's most talented professionals as they return tothe kitchen ready to battle for a place in knockout week.Getting there will require oodles of creativity, as well asthe perseverance to impress their toughest critics yet.Theinvention test is their first stop. The chefs will need tocreate a standout dish featuring the key ingredient, offal,as the star of the show. The larder has been packed withgoodies, including chicken livers, sweetbreads, chickenhearts, tripe and tongue, as well as a broad range of fruit,vegetables, herbs and spices. They will have just ten minutesto develop a dish that will tickle the judges' taste buds, andthen 70 minutes to bring their creation to life.The criticsround is up next. Jimi Famurewa, Grace Dent and Tom ParkerBowles are back, hoping to sample some exquisite plates offood. Can the professionals reach their high standards, orwill the occasion prove too overwhelming?Marcus and Monica willconsider the critics' reviews and reward the best chefs with aplace in knockout week as the hunt for this year's championcontinues.

Four more chefs are excited to start their MasterChef journey,which, in this episode, begins with two infamous challengesthat will test their ability to cope with the pressure. Thosethat outshine their competitors will move forward into thisweek's quarter-final.First up, Marcus will ask the first twoto cook-up a skills test dish of Italian blue cheese gnudidumplings and serve them with a broccoli soup. All theingredients are laid out in front of them, but it's down tothe chefs to work out the correct process. A vibrant green soupwith firm dumplings that sing of blue cheese needs to bring asmile to the judges' faces.It's then down to the last two chefsto show what they are made of, as Monica tasks them withmaking citrus-cured sea bass tacos, with a vegetable garnishand crispy fish skin. They will have to prep the fish and tacoshells from scratch as well, meaning time is of the essence.The judges will be expecting moreish tacos that are easy topick up and bursting with flavour.The signature round is nextand might give the chefs the chance to redeem themselves. Theyhave 90 minutes to prepare a main course and a dessert thatwill be sure to linger in the judges' memory. With menusinfluenced from a real variety of food cultures, includingColombian, Brazilian and Japanese, there is potential fortaste sensations for Gregg, Marcus and Monica.After this,just one task remains – this time for the judges – to namethis week's best chefs. They will forge their way into thequarter-final and be in with a shot at the MasterChef: TheProfessionals 2024 title.

Monica has abrilliant recipe up her sleeve and will be asking the first twochefs to prepare a five-spice duck breast, served with a duckheart skewer and an orange sauce. Speed will be of theessence, as they will have just 20 minutes to prove sometop-notch butchery, along with a discerning palate.Marcus setsthe next skills test brief, which will see the last twocompetitors prepare Welsh cakes and serve them with poachedplums, a plum syrup and cheese. They will have all theingredients laid out for them, so even if they've never evenheard of a Welsh cake, they should be able to work things out.It won't be easy, though, under the intense glare of thejudges.Next, it's the signature round, where theprofessionals are under the spotlight with their own food andare expected to seriously shine. Tasked with cooking twocourses that sum them up as a chef, these hopefuls need toprove to the judges that they mean business.The judges step upto select the best chefs destined for this week'squarter-final, leaving the others to find their MasterChefjourney has come to an end.
