ABC has topped up The Rookie's second season, adding an additional seven episodes to its original order of 13. That gives the cop drama a total of 20 episodes for the 2019-2020 season, matching the length of its freshman run. The series was a high profile entry when it premiered in 2018, garnering consistent ratings while establishing a loyal fan base. Its numbers have been steady once again through its first five weeks back in its new Sunday night time slot. In The Rookie, Nathan Fillion plays John Nolan, a middle aged man who experiences a life-changing incident that inspires him to pursue his dream of being an officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. Netflix announced today that Stranger Things has been picked up for a fourth season. The good news, which is really no surprise given the series' continued popularity, comes just under three months after the drama's Season 3 release. The 1980s-themed horror/mystery drama burst onto the scene in 2016 and quickly gained a huge pop culture following backed by plenty of critical praise and awards. Everything from its captivating storytelling and likable characters, to its creepy atmosphere and nostalgic references, really struck a chord with a wide range of viewers. Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things takes place in Hawkins, Indiana and follows a group of kids who become friends with a mysterious girl that possesses psychokinetic abilities. They discover an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down, which starts to have an increasing affect on the town and its residents. There is not much known regarding Season 4 in terms of returning cast members or story line, but a teaser released today reveals that the setting will, at least in part, take place outside of Hawkins. Amazon announced today that The Expanse has been picked up for a fifth season. The good news comes months ahead of Season 4, which has yet to debut at its new streaming home since the online giant revived it from cancellation last year. The critically-acclaimed space opera started out on Syfy, where it aired its first three seasons between 2015 and 2018. After getting axed from the cable network, there was a substantial outcry from fans, resulting in a #SaveTheExpanse online campaign that included an online petition with over 130,000 signatures and a GoFundMe page which paid for an airplane banner that was flown over Amazon Studios in Santa Monica. With Season 5 now confirmed, fans can look forward to plenty more of The Expanse over the next year or two. Look for Season 4 to premiere on December 13. View full article
