  12. Ken Weatherwax, best known for playing Pugsley on the 1964 series The Addams Family has died, he was 59. According to his family, he suffered a heart attack at his home in California. There will be a private funeral for family only and then another public funeral for his fans. After the beloved series was canceled in 1966, Weatherwax went on to voice the same Pugsley character in the 1970s series and and even played Pugsley Sr. in a TV movie. Although he eventually transitioned to work behind the camera as a grip and set builder, he still made appearances at fan conventions.
  13. As first reported by TMZ, Kelly passed away in her sleep late Wednesday night. The actress checked herself into rehab last week to battle her addiction to alcohol and drugs. Kelly's agent told TMZ that Kelly was determined to clean herself up and live a sober life, prior to her untimely passing. She had reportedly fallen off the wagon recently after a dispute with her estranged husband, Robert Gilliam. Kelly's estranged husband beat her last May to obtain residual money from her show. He was convicted of domestic battery last month and sentenced to 3 years probation. He also served 35 days in jail for the beating. Kelly filed for divorce from her abusive husband back in July. The cause of Kelly's death, according to TMZ, is cardiac arrest. Kelly first broke into acting in an episode of 'Married with Children' in 1992. From there, she went on to appear in shows like 'Murphy Brown' and 'Charmed' before landing her role on the hit sitcom 'That '70s Show.' In 2010, Kelly was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol; her substance abuse issues became public record and she has appeared on many talk shows discussing her battles against addiction. Kelly was forty-three years old. Source: 'That '70s Show' Actress Lisa Robin Kelly Dead at 43
  14. Palillo was apparently found by his partner, Joseph Gramm, around 4:00 a.m. Palillo was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 63 years old. Palillo was best known for playing Arnold Dingfelder Horshack on Welcome Back, Kotter, but he did also appear on Ellen, Darkwing Duck, Laverne and Shirley in the Army and he appeared in Friday the 14th Part VI: Jason Lives. In recent years, Palillo taught at G-Star School of the Arts for Motion Pictures and Broadcasting in Palm Beach County, Florida. He also produced his first full-length play, the Lost Boy, in 2005 and, in 2007, he introduced a clothing line spcializing in limited-edition t-shirts created by Rotter and Friends. Earlier this year, "Kotter" co-star Robert Hegyes, who played Epstein, also passed away, also from a heart attack. Rest in piece, Ron Palillo. Source: 'Welcome Back, Kotter's' Horshack passes away
  15. Have you ever wondered how the term "April Fool's" came to be? Well I did alittle research and the results are quite fascinating. Unlike most of the other nonfoolish holidays, the history of April Fool's Day, sometimes called All Fool's Day, is not totally clear. It is not like Halloween, where despite an interesting history, most people just put on Halloween costumes, get candy, and leave it at that. There really wasn't a "first April Fool's Day" that can be pinpointed on the calendar. Some believe it sort of evolved simultaneously in several cultures at the same time, from celebrations involving the first day of spring. The closest point in time that can be identified as the beginning of this tradition was in 1582, in France. Prior to that year, the new year was celebrated for eight days, beginning on March 25. The celebration culminated on April 1. With the reform of the calendar under Charles IX, the Gregorian Calendar was introduced, and New Year's Day was moved to January 1. However, communications being what they were in the days when news traveled by foot, many people did not receive the news for several years. Others, the more obstinate crowd, refused to accept the new calendar and continued to celebrate the new year on April 1. These backward folk were labeled as "fools" by the general populace. They were subject to some ridicule, and were often sent on "fools errands" or were made the butt of other practical jokes. This harassment evolved, over time, into a tradition of prank-playing on the first day of April. The tradition eventually spread to England and Scotland in the eighteenth century. It was later introduced to the American colonies of both the English and French. April Fool's Day thus developed into an international fun fest, so to speak, with different nationalities specializing in their own brand of humor at the expense of their friends and families. In Scotland, for example, April Fool's Day is actually celebrated for two days. The second day is devoted to pranks involving the posterior region of the body. It is called Taily Day. The origin of the "kick me" sign can be traced to this observance. In France and several other European countries, April 1 is often referred to as April Fish. The prank is to stick a paper fish on the back of another person without being noticed. Mexico's counterpart of April Fool's Day is actually observed on December 28. Originally, the day was a sad remembrance of the slaughter of the innocent children by King Herod. It eventually evolved into a lighter commemoration involving pranks and trickery. Pranks performed on April Fool's Day range from the simple, (such as saying, "Your shoe's untied, or I accidentally stepped on your glasses!), to the elaborate. Setting a roommate's alarm clock back an hour is a common gag. Whatever the prank, the trickster usually ends it by yelling to his victim, "April Fool!" Practical jokes are a common practice on April Fool's Day. Sometimes, elaborate practical jokes are played on friends or relatives that last the entire day. The news media even gets involved. For instance, a British short film once shown on April Fool's Day was a fairly detailed documentary about "spaghetti farmers" and how they harvest their crop from the spaghetti trees. April Fool's Day is a "for-fun-only" observance. Nobody is expected to buy gifts or to take their "significant other" out to eat in a fancy restaurant. Nobody gets off work or school. It's simply a fun little holiday, but a holiday on which one must remain forever vigilant, for he may be the next April Fool!
  16. Her first comments came on Friday (Nov. 25) and appear to be at the expense of her soon-to-be ex-husband. Demi, who inexplicably still uses the Twitter name of "MrsKutcher.", writes "Why do we have only 1 day for giving thanks? Is that why so many people feel unappreciated? Make this 1 of 365 days of Thanksgiving!". In 2010, we started hearing tales of Ashton’s extramarital affairs. First it was Brittany Jones, who claimed she and Ashton “made love on the couch” one day when Demi wasn’t home. Then, earlier this year, we learned that Ashton got drunk and had sex with another woman, Sara Leal, who subsequently sold her story to Us Magazine, so it's entirely possible that this "unappreciated" comment is directed squarely at Kutcher. Demi announced on Nov. 17 that she's dumping her husband of six years. Kutcher, also a Twitter regular, has only posted twice since the split. The first tweet came on Nov. 17 when he expressed his thoughts toward Moore saying he will "cherish the time" the two were married. Then, on Nov. 23, Kutcher writes, "I'm thankful for family, friends, you, & time to reach my potential. What are you thankful for?" View full article
  17. According to Variety, "Harry Potter" director David Yates is said to be working with Jane Tranter, head of L.A.-based BBC Worldwide Prods, to develop a "Doctor Who" movie. David says, "We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two to three years to get it right. It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena.". We've heard lots about a possible film for a long time. Johnny Depp's name was floating about among others. There is widespread debate among Whovians about whether or not a new person should play the good Doctor or if one of the previous Doctors from the re-imagined series should play the role. Before directing "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and both parts of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," Yates worked with Tranter on several BBC TV series, including "The Way We Live Now" and "State of Play." Does this mean that this is the most high-powered effort to date to launch "Doctor Who" onto the bigscreen? Click here to view the article

  20. [imgleft] [/imgleft] NBC's late-nightmare is over. The network announced Thursday (Jan. 21) that Conan O'Brien will leave "The Tonight Show" and NBC. O'Brien is expected to tape his last "Tonight" on Friday (Jan. 22). NBC and O'Brien agreed to a $45 million deal wherein Conan receives $33 million under the condition that he not return to television for eight months. There is also no provision that says his $33 million will go down by the amount of his new television deal, as was previously speculated. The rest of the $45 million will go towards the severance package for his "Tonight Show" staff members. Jay Leno will return to hosting "The Tonight Show" after the Winter Olympics. The official deal comes after almost two weeks of sturm und drang about the future of O'Brien and Leno, and to at least some degree of the network as a whole. NBC said Sunday, Jan. 10 that the prime-time "Jay Leno Show," which had pulled weak ratings and damaged affiliates' local news numbers, would end, and network chairman Jeff Gaspin floated a plan to give Leno a half-hour show at 11:35 p.m., pushing "The Tonight Show" to just after midnight and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" to 1 a.m. Two days later, however, O'Brien released a statement saying he didn't want to move to midnight. "I sincerely believe that delaying 'The Tonight Show' into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting," he said. "'The Tonight Show' at 12:05 simply isn't 'The Tonight Show.'" That kicked off a round of sniping that played out in the two hosts' monologues -- as well as those of David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel and Craig Ferguson -- intense negotiations and lots of reports about when O'Brien would be doing his last show. Negotiations dragged on as NBC and O'Brien's camp hammered out details, with reports of "it'll be done tomorrow" trickling out for almost a week. Now it's done and Conan O'Brien will receive $33 million for seven months' work. Not a bad deal, though we'd wager he still feels pretty raw about the whole thing.
