  13. Syfy announced today that Dominion has been renewed for a second season. The supernatural thriller debuted in June and has since become one of cable's top prime time programs on Thursday nights. The network has ordered 13 episodes for Season 2 of Dominion, with an expected return in 2015.
  14. Syfy announced that Defiance has been renewed for a third season. The action drama has continued to perform well in its second season, ranking as one of cable's top prime time programs on Thursday nights with an average of 2.7 million total viewers (Live+7). The network has ordered 13 episodes for Season 3 of Defiance, with an expected premiere in 2015.
  15. Showtime announced that the upcoming seventh season of Nurse Jackie will be its last. On the air since 2009, the award-winning dramedy will leave as one of the network's highest-rated comedies, having averaged 3.4 million weekly viewers across platforms in Season 6.
  16. ION Television has picked up the rights to Saving Hope in a deal that will see the Canadian medical drama return to the U.S. for the first time since 2012. The series first aired in the states on NBC two summers ago, where it lasted only 11 episodes before being cancelled from the network's schedule due to low ratings. The remaining first-season episodes were put up on nbc.com but the show's second season only aired to audiences up north. With Saving Hope moving to ION TV, U.S. audiences will now be able to watch the show's first two seasons plus its upcoming third season, which is currently in production.
  17. It is being reported that freshman Lifetime series The Lottery has been cancelled after one season. The futuristic thriller, which followed a global fertility crisis, aired 10 episodes over the summer but failed to draw a significant number of viewers.
  18. MTV has renewed Awkward for Season 5 in what will be the show's final run to conclude the series. The comedy premiered in 2011 and has amassed a loyal fanbase over the years, even picking up a People's Choice Award for favorite cable comedy along the way. Awkward is current airing new fourth-season episodes on Tuesday nights. There is no word yet on a return time frame or the number of episodes on order for Season 5.
  19. ABC has announced that Mistresses will be renewed for a third season. The sophomore drama recently wrapped up its second season, which left fans with hanging with a few cliffhangers that are now confirmed to be resolved. Mistresses will continue as a summer series in 2015 with another 13 episodes on order.
  20. Anna Silk, who plays Bo, the main character of the show, posted on her twitter account "After five incredible seasons, we have decided that it is time for Bo's journey to come to an epic conclusion." She went on to deliver the news that Season 5 will be a "super-sized" 16 episodes that will air in two parts. It is expected that the premiere will air late this year on Showcase in Canada, with the second half of the season airing in the fall of 2015. A time frame for the show's return to Syfy for U.S. audiences is not known at this time.
  21. It has been reported that CBS has cancelled The Millers just four episodes into its second season. The sophomore comedy has struggled in the ratings so far this fall after moving to a new time slot on Monday nights. Word is that production has already been halted, with this coming Monday's episode possibly being its last.
  22. It is being reported that TNT has cancelled Perception after three seasons. The Eric McCormack procedural is the second show the network has axed this week. Though ratings were slightly down in Season 3 compared to Season 2, reasons for Perception's cancellation are unclear. The move could be in part related to TNT's recently-stated desire to transition to edgier programming under new president Kevin Reilly. Look for the remaining episodes in Perception's third season to air in February 2015.
  23. It has been reported that TNT has cancelled Franklin & Bash after four seasons. Its most recent season, which ended last month, saw a significant ratings drop of over 50% from previous seasons. That viewership dip, combined with the network's recent desire to transition to edgier programming, likely factored into its cancellation.
  24. Showtime has announced that Homeland has been renewed for a fifth season. The award-winning drama has continued to perform well for the network in its current season after a major character death in Season 3 forced it to hit the reset button. 12 new episodes of Homeland have been ordered Season 5, which is likely to return in fall 2015.
