Grand Designs 19x1 - Buckinghamshire

Kevin McCloud returns for a new series of the show that followsintrepid individuals trying to design and build their dreamhome. In Buckinghamshire he meets young Spanish architect Jaimeand his wife Mimi as they embark on an epic mission to converta Grade II* listed folly into a family home. Originallydesigned to exhibit a fossil collection, but gutted by fireand left in ruins for the last 200 years, the crumbling minicastle beguiles Jaime and Mimi. Giving themselves a wildlyoptimistic six month deadline to finish before the birth oftheir second child, it's not long before the couple hittrouble. The Saxon burial ground the folly is built on throwsup some macabre surprises. Their stonemasons from Madrid letthem down and local builders with no restoration experiencehave to take on the crumbling stonework. Jaime puts all hisenergies and creativity into the project, using innovative 3Dmapping to squeeze living spaces into the tower, but it's anexhausting struggle.
