  16. It is being reported that CBS has cancelled Angel From Hell after just five episodes. The freshman comedy, which starred Jane Lynch, drew modest ratings in its Thursday night time slot, but ultimately fell short of expectations. Beginning February 18, new episodes of 2 Broke Girls will be taking over on Thursdays at 9:30pm. Until then, a repeat of The Big Bang Theory will air in its place this week.
  17. NBC announced today that mid-season replacement Shades of Blue has been renewed for a second season. The freshman drama, which stars Jennifer Lopez in her first lead role in a scripted prime time series, premiered in early January and has drawn solid ratings through its first five episodes. Season 1 of Shades of Blue is currently airing on Thursday nights, and is slated to run for 13 episodes. No details on Season 2 have been released at this time.
  18. Netflix announced this morning that Orange Is The New Black has been renewed for three additional seasons. Today's pickup will see the hit prison dramedy through at least Season 7. It was also confirmed that creator Jenji Kohan, who runs and executive produces the series, will also be on-board for the duration. In the short term, fans can look forward to Season 4 premiering on June 17.
  19. USA Network announced today that Colony has been renewed for a second season. The pickup comes just three episodes into the freshman drama's run that has so far drawn healthy viewership across various platforms. It is being reported that Season 2 of Colony will have its episode count increased to 13, up from the 10 ordered for its current season.
  20. WGN America confirmed today that Manhattan has been cancelled after two seasons. The period drama, which followed events around the creation of the Manhattan Project in the 1940's, was the cable network's second original scripted series behind the still-airing Salem. The show garnered its share of critical praise but failed to draw enough viewers during its run to sustain it any further. The final episode of Manhattan aired this past December.
  21. NBC announced today that Chicago Med has been renewed for a second season. The freshman spin-off will join the already-renewed Chicago Fire and Chicago PD in returning for the 2016-2017 television season. Fans of the Chicago series can also look forward to a fourth entry in the franchise, titled Chicago Law, that was recently put into development. Along with picking up Chicago Med for a sophomore season, the network also extended its relationship with producer Dick Wolf today with a new 5-year deal that will keep him at NBCUniversal through 2020. Wolf has two successful franchises on the network with the Chicago series as well as Law & Order having both spawned multiple spin-offs.
  22. Netflix announced today that House of Cards has been renewed for a fifth season. The veteran political drama, which is the streaming service's first-ever original series, received the good news ahead of its fourth season premiere, which is set for early March. Season 5 of House of Cards will air in 2017, and for the first time the show will be without its creator, Beau Willimon, who is departing after four seasons. Willimon also acted as an executive producer and showrunner of the acclaimed series, which will now be searching for a suitable replacement to helm the show going forward.
  23. Fox is making some changes to its prime time schedule, moving new entry Second Chance to Friday nights. The freshman drama premiered earlier this month, airing two low-rated episodes in the post-American Idol Wednesday night time slot. With the new series underperforming, the network is putting Hell's Kitchen in its place beginning this week. New episodes of Second Chance will now air Friday nights at 9:00pm beginning January 29.
  24. Netflix announced today that Marvel's Jessica Jones has been renewed for a second season. The freshman superhero drama enjoyed a strong first season release late last year that was met with critical acclaim, making it another instant hit for the streaming service. Star Krysten Ritter even picked up a Critics Choice nomination for Best Actress in a Drama. No premiere date has been set for Season 2 of Jessica Jones, though we do know that another 13 episodes have been ordered, matching its Season 1 output.
  25. Though always planned as a limited series, NBC confirmed today that Heroes Reborn will be ending its run after one season. The Tim Kring superhero drama, which acted as a revival of the once-popular, previously-cancelled Heroes, premiered as part of the network's 2015 fall schedule for a 13-episode stint. The reboot didn't do much to renew viewer interest in the franchise, however, and its lackluster ratings on Thursday nights reflected that. One would imagine that if Reborn managed to draw a sizable audience, NBC might have explored possibilities to bring the show back for further installments. But as it stands now, the network says no more incarnations are planned for the foreseeable future. Heroes Reborn airs its series finale on Thursday, January 21.
