When a Chinese fortune teller is murdered in Portland'sChinatown, clues lead Backstrom and the Special Crimes Unit(S.C.U.) to a laundry service serving as a front for an illegalgambling ring. During the investigation, fortunes also aretold to each member of the S.C.U. team. But the informationgiven to some members reveal more secrets about their paststhan others, and one burgeoning relationship is brought outinto the open.

And on the high plains of Wyoming, DavidZitterkopf's log buyer has a unique and special order - onethat won't be easy to fill.
