Head teacher Bethan has brought in herschool clock with high hopes that the combined skills of clockrestorer Steve Fletcher and clock face painter Cindy Wellandcan nurse her historical timepiece back to life. Back in 1877,the clock was gifted to the school by none other than FlorenceNightingale. It has remained a stalwart of the school and theirbiggest claim to fame but has never, to anyone's memory,worked! With the school's 150-year anniversary coming up,Bethan is hoping the clock can make its debut as a workingfeature of the school's rich history. Steve takes a school tripto unveil his and the team's efforts and fortunately receivestop marks.There's also a tale of animal rescue in the barn. Petlover Angie Bakalarou has the paper skills required for Hazel'smap repair. Her dad was an RSPCA inspector who lived for hiswork, rescuing animals all over Yorkshire. As a child, Hazelrelished going out with her dad on his call-outs. But thesewere the days before satnav, and Hazel was put in charge ofmap-reading them to the right location - a job she adored.After her dad passed away, she found a single map of Wharfdalein Yorkshire in his box of 'important things to keep'. Nowalmost transparent, with tears and the edges falling apart,Hazel is desperate to save it from rack and ruin. Angie chartsout the best route to recovery, leaving Hazel with thekeepsake of her dad she had longed for.Pete Woods has a giftfor repairing instruments, and Natalie and her dad Mike arehoping he can restore harmony to one they treasure. Mike's latefather played the saxophone over a semi-professional careerthat spanned from the 1940s right up to the 1990s. After thewar, he travelled around the UK in big bands and swing bands.In 1950, he decided he needed a ‘proper job', so he becamean engineer, but he carried on playing sax with a band heformed called The **** Wade 5. He was in his mid-70s by thetime he retired, and he died in 2004. His musical talentspassed down to son Mike, who plays piano, and hisgranddaughter Natalie, who is following in his footsteps,playing the saxophone. Mike would love to see the instrumentplaying like it did back in its heyday, so daughter Nataliecan continue to use it. Pete must repair the pads, fix amissing key guard and spruce up the old brass to get Natalieblowing the saxophone in front of an audience of experts.
