CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is an American crime drama television series that premiered on CBS on October 6, 2000. CBS has cancelled the show after 15 seasons. The long-running crime procedural drama made a huge impact on the television landscape during its run. It ascended to the top of the ratings charts, becoming a flagship series for the network and ushering in countless copycat series. CSI became a billion-dollar franchise, winning awards and spawning three spin-offs of its own, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, and the recent CSI: Cyber. It is ending as one of the longest running dramas on television. The show will conclude its run with a two-hour TV movie on September 27. Original stars William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger will return to send the series off. Current star Ted Danson is said to be moving over to CSI: Cyber as a regular on that series.
