A former Navy SEAL, he served in theSecret Service, at the Pentagon, and as Sergeant-at-Arms ofthe U.S. Senate. However, as correspondent ScottPelley reports, Larkin's most significant contribution may bewhat he's done since his son, Ryan, took his own life. Ryanwas, like his father, a decorated Navy SEAL, and his deathby suicide was attributed to depression. But Frank Larkin didnot accept this explanation. When pathologists discovered Ryansuffered from scarring in his brain, likely due to repeatedlow-level blast exposure, this father campaigned for a changein how Special Operations and the rest of the military trainand protect their service members.
