'Strange Angel' Cancelled By CBS All Access

It is being reported that CBS All Access has cancelled Strange Angel after two seasons. The move comes four months after the historical period drama aired its sophomore finale, which now acts as its series-ender. The show was the third original scripted drama on the streaming service, but was actually the first without any roots in a previous series; preceding dramas The Good Fight and Star Trek: Discovery are both spinoffs. While viewership data is not released, Strange Angel seemed to fly under the radar a bit in terms of popularity, though it did receive a generally-positive critical reception. Based on George Pendle's book of the same name, Strange Angel follows the real-life story of Jack Parsons, a brilliant blue-collar worker in 1930s Los Angeles who began as a janitor at a chemical factory but had fantastical dreams that led him to birth the unknown discipline of American rocketry. Along the way, he fell into a mysterious world where he become a disciple of occultist Aleister Crowley, whose teachings of self-actualization supported Parsons' unprecedented endeavor to the stars.

Amazon Renews 'Undone'

It is being reported that Amazon has picked up Undone for a second season. The adult animated dramedy premiered in September with an eight-episode run that has garnered strong critical acclaim. Animated using a technique called rotoscoping, where animators trace over motion picture footage, the series follows a woman from San Antonio, Texas who nearly lost her life in a car accident. Since that fateful day, she has discovered that she has a unique relationship with time. She develops this newfound ability to find out the truth about her father's death.

Netflix Renews 'The Witcher'

Netflix has given The Witcher an early vote of confidence, picking up a second season of the fantasy drama over a month before its debut. The streaming service has ordered eight episodes for the sophomore run of the show, matching the length of its first season. Perhaps best known for the popular series of video games, The Witcher originated as a series of novels by Andrzej Sapkowski. The TV series follows a monster hunter by the name of Geralt of Rivia, who is struggling to find his place in a world where people are often more wicked than beasts. When destiny unites him with a powerful sorceress and a young princess, the three must work to navigate the volatile Continent together. The Witcher premieres on Netflix on December 20. Season 2 is slated for a 2021 release.

'Goliath' Renewed For Final Fourth Season

Amazon announced today that Goliath has been picked up for a fourth and final season. The legal drama, which comes from David E. Kelley and Jonathan Shapiro, returned in October for Season 3 and is once again garnering generally-positive reviews. Goliath stars Billy Bob Thornton as Billy McBride, a washed up lawyer frequenting more bars than courtrooms. After agreeing to look into a wrongful death lawsuit against the biggest client of the powerful firm he helped create, Billy and his motley crew uncover a deadly conspiracy that finds them in a life-or-death trial with the odds stacked against them. Look for the final season of Goliath sometime in 2020. Billy's not done yet. #Goliath will return for its fourth and final season to @PrimeVideo. pic.twitter.com/vFH3mclejT — Goliath (@goliathtv) November 14, 2019

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Renewed For Season 8

NBC announced today that Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been picked up for an eighth season. The good news comes three months ahead of the cop comedy's Season 7 premiere, which is slated for February 6. The half-hour series returned to the air earlier this year for its sixth season after being cancelled by Fox in 2018. Now a midseason player, the show is performing well for its new network, with solid linear ratings and a strong presence online. Critical reception continues to be positive as well. Led by Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg, Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows an offbeat group of detectives and staff at the 99th precinct of the New York Police Department. Samberg plays the eclectic Jake Peralta, a talented but immature detective whose carefree style clashes with his stern, by-the-books captain, played by Andre Braugher. Look for Season 8 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine during the 2020-2021 season. Good things come to those who w8. 'Creepshow' Renewed For Season 2

Shudder announced today that Creepshow has been picked up for a second season. The good news arrives on the eve of the show's Halloween freshman finale, which will conclude a successful debut run. The comedic horror anthology series premiered in September as the first hour-long original on the AMC-owned streaming service. On top of drawing critical acclaim, the show is pulling in record audiences according to the outlet. Executive produced by Greg Nicotero, best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Creepshow is based on the 1982 classic film where a comic book comes to life in a series of vignettes that explore horror stories about topics like murder, the supernatural, and the unexplainable. pic.twitter.com/ATpf7uN0Y6 — CreepshowTVSeries (@CreepshowTv) October 30, 2019

Epix Renews 'Pennyworth'

Epix announced today that Pennyworth has been picked up for a second season. The good news comes a month after the drama wrapped its freshman run, which was a successful one for the cable network. Per Epix, the series was the best-performing original to ever premiere on the network, with over double the viewership of any other show before it. Reviews have leaned positive as well, with critics noting that it stands on its own as a thriller while not necessarily adding to the DC Universe mythos in which the character originated. Taking place in 1960s London, the series follows former British SAS soldier Alfred Pennyworth, who forms a security company with billionaire Thomas Wayne. It is these roots that lay the groundwork for Alfred to eventually serve as the loyal butler of a young Bruce Wayne, and to later work alongside him when he grows up to become the superhero known as Batman. We’ve plenty of jolly times ahead: #Pennyworth has been renewed for a second season. 🎉 Thanks for your support! Stay tuned for updates. pic.twitter.com/3niiMuvmu7 — PENNYWORTH (@PennyworthEpix) October 30, 2019

ABC Tops Up Season 2 of 'The Rookie'

ABC has topped up The Rookie's second season, adding an additional seven episodes to its original order of 13. That gives the cop drama a total of 20 episodes for the 2019-2020 season, matching the length of its freshman run. The series was a high profile entry when it premiered in 2018, garnering consistent ratings while establishing a loyal fan base. Its numbers have been steady once again through its first five weeks back in its new Sunday night time slot. In The Rookie, Nathan Fillion plays John Nolan, a middle aged man who experiences a life-changing incident that inspires him to pursue his dream of being an officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. But as the force's oldest rookie, he must deal with skepticism from senior officers and the demands of keeping up with not only the criminals, but the younger cops in the precinct.

'Batwoman' Nabs A Full Season Order

The CW announced today that Batwoman has been given a back-order of nine episodes to bring its total to 22 - a full season's worth. The good news comes three weeks into the superhero drama's run, which has been pulling in decent ratings for the network. Set in the same universe as The CW's other superhero shows, Batwoman takes place years after Batman mysteriously disappeared from Gotham, leaving the city to fall into despair. When the Alice in Wonderland gang wreaks havoc, Kate Kane returns home to help her city, becoming the dark knight vigilante known as Batwoman.

'Nancy Drew' Picked Up For A Full Season

The CW has topped up the rookie run of Nancy Drew, adding an additional nine episodes to its original order of 13. That gives the mystery drama a total of 22 episodes for a full first season. The series premiered earlier this month and has been garnering so-so ratings and reviews in the early goings. It is the latest iteration of a televised version of the mystery book series that originated in the 1930s. Nancy Drew is led by newcomer Kennedy McMann, who plays the 18-year-old titular detective. In the series, the recent high school grad is looking forward to heading off to college, but her plans are put on hold when she is one of the witnesses - and prime suspects - of a murder in her town. As Nancy investigates the case herself, the truth about what happened begins to unravel. to the #drewcrew on our set, and the ones who graciously spend their time watching our lil show, you make every bit of work so worth it. NINE MORE!!! 💙 — Kennedy McMann (@kennedymcmann) October 25, 2019

Freeform Cancels 'Cloak & Dagger'

Word is out that Freeform will not be ordering a third season of Marvel's Cloak & Dagger, cancelling the show after two seasons. The sad news comes nearly five months after the comic-based drama aired its sophomore finale, which will now act as its series ender. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Cloak & Dagger follows the lives of two teenagers named Tandy and Tyrone. While they come from very different backgrounds, they are awakened to newfound superpowers that mysteriously link them to each other. The hour-long series premiered in 2018 to critical praise and solid viewership numbers, with its debut run ranking as one of that summer's top cable dramas in key demographics. It couldn't sustain that momentum going into Season 2, however, as ratings slipped considerably. While the show is now over, fans will get a final chance to catch the Cloak & Dagger duo this December in the upcoming third season of Marvel's Runaways as part of a planned crossover event.

'The Outpost' Renewed For Season 3

Two weeks after its sophomore finale, The Outpost has been picked up for a third season. The fantasy adventure drama continued its run this summer, garnering similar ratings to its first season. The series follows Talon, a Blackblood whose village was destroyed by a gang of mercenaries years ago. Now the only remaining member of her race, she travels to a lawless fortress on the edge of civilization looking for her family's killer. On her way to the outpost, Talon learns that she possesses a supernatural power that she must harness in order to save herself and defend the world against a radical religious dictator. Look for Season 3 of The Outpost in the summer of 2020.

'Prodigal Son' Picked Up For Full Season

Fox announced today that Prodigal Son has been topped up with nine additional episodes, making it the first new show of the fall to earn a full-season pickup. The good news comes just two episodes into the drama's freshman run, which is off to a solid start in the ratings. Tom Payne stars in the series as Malcolm Bright, a criminal psychologist with a special gift of knowing how the minds of killers work. This is because in the 1990s, his dad was a notorious serial killer known as "The Surgeon." He uses his ability to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers, all while dealing with his manipulative mother, played by Bellamy Young, and homicidal father, played by Michael Sheen, who is still looking to bond with his prodigal son. More Malcolm. More Martin. More cases to solve. TV’s #1 new show this fall has been picked up for an additional nine episodes. #ProdigalSon pic.twitter.com/g99vHgDDug — Prodigal Son (@prodigalsonfox) October 7, 2019

'The Walking Dead' Renewed For Season 11

Today's New York Comic Con panel for The Walking Dead delivered some good, albeit obvious, news for the series in the form of a pickup for Season 11. Showrunner Angela Kang made the announcement, which comes just a day ahead of the post-apocalyptic horror drama's 10th season premiere. The long-running series continues to rank as one of cable television's top scripted series, though its current audience numbers are far from what they were in its heyday. To paint a picture, viewership in Season 9 was pulling in numbers similar to what it was drawing way back in Season 1, before it gained 'hit' status. It was also announced today that Lauren Cohan will making a return to the show in Season 10, bringing fan-favorite character Maggie Greene back into the fold. The news was somewhat expected, as the series Cohan left The Walking Dead to pursue, Whiskey Cavalier, was cancelled after its first season. 'Stranger Things' Renewed For Season 4

Netflix announced today that Stranger Things has been picked up for a fourth season. The good news, which is really no surprise given the series' continued popularity, comes just under three months after the drama's Season 3 release. The 1980s-themed horror/mystery drama burst onto the scene in 2016 and quickly gained a huge pop culture following backed by plenty of critical praise and awards. Everything from its captivating storytelling and likable characters, to its creepy atmosphere and nostalgic references, really struck a chord with a wide range of viewers. Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things takes place in Hawkins, Indiana and follows a group of kids who become friends with a mysterious girl that possesses psychokinetic abilities. They discover an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down, which starts to have an increasing affect on the town and its residents. There is not much known regarding Season 4 in terms of returning cast members or story line, but a teaser released today reveals that the setting will, at least in part, take place outside of Hawkins. While no premiere date is known, a mid-to-late 2020 return appears likely. we're not in hawkins anymore pic.twitter.com/Y4hayuPKvu — Stranger Things (@Stranger_Things) September 30, 2019
