NBC Ups Episode Count For 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

Midnight

NBC announced today that it is increasing its order for Brooklyn Nine-Nine, adding five episodes to the comedy's debut outing on the network. Slated for a mid-season run in 2018-2019, the half-hour series will now air a total of 18 episodes rather than the originally-planned 13.

It was back in May that the network saved the series just one day after it was cancelled by Fox after five seasons. Though the quick revival came as somewhat of a surprise, the move to NBC does make sense, as the network had originally expressed interest in the show back in 2012 while it was searching for a home.

Led by Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg, Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows an offbeat group of detectives and staff at the 99th precinct of the New York Police Department. Samberg plays the eclectic Jake Peralta, a talented but immature detective whose carefree style clashes with his stern, by-the-books captain, played by Andre Braugher.
