Matthew Garber was a British child actor, best known for his role as Michael Banks in the 1964 film Mary Poppins. He also starred in two other Disney films, The Three Lives of Thomasina and The Gnome-Mobile. He contracted hepatitis whilst in India in 1976/77 he said he had eaten "bad meat" there and died from Haemorrhagic Necrotising Pancreatitis on June 13, 1977 at the age of 21.
