Michael Vick was an American football quarterback for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He has previously played for the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles. He has been very successful in his football career. However, apparently all the money he earned was not enough. After Michael Vick spent 21 months in prison in 2008 for operating a dog-fighting ring, the former quarterback filed for bankruptcy. At one time, Michael was ranked the NFL’s 4th highest rated player by Forbes, to the tune of $37.5 million, but then the extravagance started. He supported a thirty-person entourage. He bought his mom a 7,800 square foot mansion. Business partners started investing obscene amounts of cash in silly businesses. After the dog-fighting scandal, the Atlanta Falcons quarterback went bankrupt in prison in 2008. In 2005, Vick was one of the highest-paid athletes in the world. By 2008, he was broke. Three years of splashing money around on mansions, a double-digit entourage and fruitless business ventures followed by the dog-fighting scandal cost the Atlanta Falcons player to lose almost every dime he had.
