The comedy revival receives another pickup.
NBC announced today that the Will & Grace revival has received its second renewal since returning to television, for what will be the show's 11th season overall. The early pickup comes with two episodes remaining in its ninth season, ensuring the Emmy Award-winning comedy will be on the air for the foreseeable future.
The series wasted no time in picking up where it left off after returning to TV last fall. The revival has garnered praise for capturing the essence of the original series and being able to return to form without missing a beat. The show was even nominated for a 2018 Golden Globe Award in the Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy category.
Will & Grace originally premiered in 1998 and during its eight years on the air it became a staple in the peacock network's Must See TV comedy lineup on Thursday nights. Rumors of a revival first started when the cast reunited in the fall of 2016 for an online special urging Americans to vote in the upcoming presidential election. And while that was done without any involvement from NBC, it was enough for the network to start thinking about bringing the show back.
Today's Season 11 renewal is for 18 episodes that will premiere in the fall of the 2019-2020 season. As for Season 10, which returns this fall, its original order of 13 episodes has now been expanded to 18 as well.

The well-received drama will return for Season 2.
USA Network announced today that The Sinner is being brought back for a second season. Originally billed as a limited series, the Jessica Biel-starring drama turned out to be a big hit for the cable network. And as has happened before with the likes of HBO's Big Little Lies and Fox's Wayward Pines, series planned for a single run that end up being successful are often renewed thanks to their strong performance.
The Sinner premiered last summer and immediately made its mark both critically and in the ratings. When all was said and done, the show ended up ranking as the top new cable series of 2017. There was also recognition by the Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Awards. While not taking home any hardware, the show did receive two nominations from each.
The first season of The Sinner starred Biel as a young mother who, after being overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage, commits a shocking act of violence with apparently no reason behind it. When an investigator, played by Bill Pullman, becomes obsessed with uncovering the woman's buried motive, the two end up on a harrowing journey into the depths of her psyche and the violent secrets hidden in her past.
Season 2 will follow Pullman's character on a new "why-dunnit" murder case. There is no word as to whether Biel's character will be a part of the new season, but if she is it will likely be in a much reduced capacity.

Netflix has ordered more of the sci-fi series.
It was announced today that Netflix has renewed Travelers for a third season. Show star Eric McCormack broke the news on his Twitter account, sharing word of the show's pickup with fans and also confirming that he will be directing the premiere episode.
The series debuted in late 2016 as a co-production with Showcase in Canada, which aired the first two seasons for viewers up north. For Season 3, however, Travelers will be airing exclusively on Netflix worldwide.
Taking place hundreds of years in the future, the show follows the last surviving humans who work to prevent a terrible future from taking place by sending their consciousness back in time to the 21st century. Known as travelers, they assume the lives of random people as they undertake high-stakes missions in order to save humanity.
Look for Season 3 of Travelers later this year.

No Season 5 for the cable drama.
Word is out this evening that TNT has cancelled The Librariansafter four seasons. Showrunner Dean Devlin took to Twitter with the news, posting that he will be attempting to find a new home for the movie-based series. The show aired its final episode just last month.
The adventure drama premiered on the cable network in 2014 as an expansion of its hit movie franchise, following an ancient organization hidden beneath the Metropolitan Public Library whose members dedicate their lives to protecting the world from the secret, magical reality hidden all around.
The reason for today's cancellation is unclear, as The Librarianswas a solid performer for the cable network over the course of its run. It was however, one of the last series still on the air from before Kevin Reilly became president of TNT. Since his arrival, Reilly has been taking the network's original programming in a different, more edgy, direction.

The breakout drama will return for Season 2.
ABC announced today that The Good Doctor has been renewed for a second season. Since its premiere in the fall, the medical drama has gone on to become one of the breakout freshman entries of the 2017-2018 television season. Back in October, the show was the first new drama of the fall to earn a full-season pickup thanks to its strong start.
Airing Monday nights, the series has garnered acclaim from both critics and audiences alike. It regularly beats its 10:00pm competition, which is something that ABC has struggled with in years past with shows in that particular time slot. Viewership-wise, it ranks as the network's most-watched new series in over a decade, and star Freddie Highmore earned himself a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor last year.
The Good Doctor stars Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome who leaves his quiet, country life behind to join the surgical unit at a renowned hospital in San Jose, California. Alone in his new surroundings and not able to form a personal connection with his peers, Dr. Murphy puts his extraordinary medical gifts to use in order to save lives and challenge his skeptical colleagues.
Look for Season 2 of The Good Doctor this fall.

Netflix orders more of the sci-fi anthology series.
Netflix announced today that Black Mirror will be returning for a fifth season. The critically-acclaimed series released its fourth overall season - its second on Netflix - in December.
Originating in the United Kingdom, the sci-fi anthology series premiered in 2011 and aired its first two seasons on Channel 4. Netflix acquired the rights to the show in 2015 and has released two seasons of its own since then.
Black Mirror airs in standalone episodes with a different cast in each episode. The anthology series imagines realities in the near future where humanity's greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide. The tales focus on topics ranging from obsession and revenge to fantasy and fear.

The drama will return in 2019.
Syfy announced today that The Magicians will be returning for a fourth season. The good news comes midway through the fantasy's drama's Season 3 run, which has so far been continuing its solid performance for the cable network.
Adapted from the Lev Grossman novel trilogy of the same name, The Magicians follows a graduate student who enrolls at a magical college only to discover that the fantasy world from popular children's books is actually based in truth and poses a danger to his world.
Keeping with the status quo, Syfy has ordered another 13 episodes of The Magicians for Season 4, which will likely premiere in early 2019. In the meantime, new Season 3 episodes are currently airing on Wednesday nights.

The drama's final episode will air this May.
ABC made it official today: Once Upon a Time is coming to an end after its current seventh season. The long-running fairy tale drama will be signing off after 155 episodes, which is an impressive feat for a serialized drama by today's standards.
The move to end the series does not come as a complete surprise, as the show underwent some significant retooling ahead of Season 7, including creative and casting changes as well as move to Fridays from its long-held Sunday night time slot. Considering the show's time on the air, the writing appeared to be on the wall for a conclusion in the near future.
Fans can look forward to Once Upon a Time's final stretch of episodes to return on March 2, with the series finale expected to air in May.

Midnight
The long-running drama will lose two original cast members.
USA Network announced today that Suits has been renewed for an eighth season. The veteran drama continues to be a reliable performer for the cable network, where it remains one of its most-popular originals.
Though while the show will be continuing, it was confirmed today that original cast members Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle will be departing at the end of Season 7. Confirmed to be returning are original stars Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty, and Rick Hoffman, along with the newly joined Dulé Hill, who will be a regular going forward.
Along with today's pickup, USA Network also announced a return date of March 28 for the back-half of Season 7. New episodes will air through April 25, where a 2-hour season finale is planned to send off Adams' and Markle's characters.

Syfy Renews 'Happy!'

By Midnight, in Renewals,

The graphic novel adaptation will return for Season 2.
Syfy announced today that Happy! has been renewed for a second season. The new dramedy premiered late last year and has garnered fairly consistent viewership over the course of its eight-episode run. The good news comes just days before the season finale, which airs this Wednesday.
The series has been met with a warm reception from both viewers and critics, who have noted its accomplishments in translating the dark, gritty tone of the source material on which it is based.
Adapted from the graphic novel of the same name, Happy! stars Christopher Meloni as a corrupt ex-cop who now works as a hit man who spends his days intoxicated and adrift in a world of casual murder, meaningless sex, and betrayal. After a job goes awry, his life is forever altered by a small, relentlessly upbeat, imaginary blue winged horse, who is voiced by Patton Oswalt.
