Free-agent outfielder Jonny Gomes has reached agreement a one-year deal with the Atlanta Braves that includes a vesting option for a second year. The deal is worth $4 million. Gomes, 34, is a .244 career hitter with 155 home runs over parts of 12 seasons with Tampa Bay, Cincinnati, Washington, Oakland and Boston. He has a .485 slugging percentage in 1,494 career at-bats against left-handed pitching. Atlanta's projected 2015 outfield consists of Nick Markakis in right field, B.J. Upton in center and a platoon of Gomes and Zoilo Almonte in left field. The Braves traded right fielder Jason Heywardto St. Louis and dealt left fielder Justin Upton to San Diego earlier this offseason.
