It is being reported that Mr. Robot will be coming to an end after its already-announced fourth season. The news comes more than eight months since the drama was picked up for Season 4, along with word that fans will be waiting until 2019 for new episodes to return.
The cable drama will be ending a run that was never considered a ratings success, but one that garnered plenty of praise from both critics and its core fan base. Despite its small audience, USA Network stuck with series, likely valuing the fact that it picked up its share of awards, including a win for Best Drama at the 2016 Golden Globes.
Mr. Robot follows a young, anti-social programmer who works as a cyber-security engineer during the day but spends his nights as a vigilante hacker. He finds himself in a quandary when the anarchist leader of an underground hacker group recruits him to take down the powerful corporations that he believes are running, and ruining, the world.
While the series is coming to a close, fans can take solace in the fact that today's news comes well in advance of Season 4. The early notice will give its writers time to craft a suitable ending that will provide loyal fans with some much-deserved closure. USA Network has not been as kind to other serialized shows recently with the sudden axing of both Colony and Shooter this summer.
