HBO Renews Girls for Fifth Season

It is being reported that HBO has renewed Girls for a fifth season. The announcement was made earlier this evening at the show's fourth season premiere event in New York City, where the network's president of programming Michael Lombardo broke the news. The dramedy, which returns for Season 4 this Sunday, has continued to draw critical acclaim through each of its seasons despite a lack of strong viewership. It is currently up for Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical at this year's Golden Globe Awards.
