Sidney Chambers has given up. Following the difficult events ofthe past few weeks, he is drinking likenever before, and evenworse, seems to have entirely stopped caring about hisresponsibilities as aclergyman. With Mrs Maguire and Leonardboth deeply worried about him, it is left to them to tryandfind a way to help their friend before it is too late. Butwith Geordie and Amanda seemingly unwilling tohelp, and withan attempt to remove Sidney from the vicarage seeminglygathering strength, things arenot looking good.However, whenold friend Reverend Sam Milburn returns to the parish, Sidneyis thrown into evengreater emotional turmoil. But whenevidenceof a struggle is later found, Sidney fears the worstmay have happened – could Harding havemurderedSam?Meanwhile, as Leonard continues to wrestle withhis feelings for Daniel, he also struggles to make senseof alife-changing proposal from the Archdeacon. And a visit fromMrs Maguire leads to Amanda havinga heart to heart withGuy.With Sam missing, Sidney and Geordie are forced, onceagain, to investigate a crime together. However,when theyuncover a dark secret about Sam, Sidney's fragile emotionalstate is pushed even further,putting even greater strain onthe investigation.
