In darkest Hampshire, Becky spends her days as governess toSir Pitt Crawley's neglected daughters. Her employer's handsomeyoungest son, Rawdon, does his best to interest Becky in aflirtation. Becky formsa new plan, and quickly charms her way to becoming Matilda'sfavourite new companion. Matilda sweeps Becky off in hercarriage, to Sir Pitt's dismay.
