Creator Seth MacFarlane broke the news at the show's Comic-Con panel, stating that production changes for Season 3 would delay its release and that the streaming service would be a better fit for its schedule needs.

The hour-long space dramedy is coming off a strong creative sophomore run which helped strengthen its already-loyal fan base. Its mix of thought-provoking sci-fi story lines and witty humour have helped it carve out an underserved niche in the television landscape.

Taking inspiration from Star Trek, The Orville takes place 400 years in the future, when Earth is just a small part of an advanced and mostly-peaceful Planetary Union. The U.S.S. Orville is a mid-level exploratory vessel with a human and alien crew led by rookie officer Ed Mercer, who is played by MacFarlane. Determined to prove his worth despite his First Officer being his ex-wife, Ed leads his crew as they face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar workplace problems.

  11. It looks like DC Universe has already made its first cancellation. Reports are out that the new video-on-demand service will not be bringing back Swamp Thing for a second season. The news comes just one episode into the drama's freshman run.

This revelation won't likely surprise those following the show, as it has already dealt with its share of behind-the-scenes drama. Back in April, word began circling that production was being abruptly shut down after just 10 of its planned 13 episodes. Co-star Virginia Madsen seemed to confirm the rumor in a since-deleted Instagram post that read, "I'm beyond sad. What a terrible decision. We have been cut to the core by those who have never set foot into the Swamp."

It has yet to be seen how successful DC Universe will ultimately be. Competition is heating up in the VOD space, and its content will likely only appeal to a niche audience. The platform still hasTitans and Doom Patrol in its live-action slate. The former has already been picked up for a second season, while the latter is still awaiting word on its fate.

Swamp Thing follows Abby Arcane, a doctor at the CDC investigating what appears to be a deadly swamp-born virus in her small Louisiana town. When a fellow scientist tragically dies, Abby shockingly learns that the murky swamp holds mysterious and horrifying secrets that reveal he may not truly be dead.

  12. It is being reported that Syfy has cancelled Happy! after two seasons. The not-so-happy news comes just days after the drama's sophomore finale, which now acts as its series-ender.

The show was generally well-received over the course of its run, amassing a core fanbase appreciative of its unique concept and gritty storytelling that stayed true to the source material on which it is based. Adapted from the graphic novel of the same name, Happy! stars Christopher Meloni as a corrupt ex-cop who now works as a hit man who spends his days intoxicated and adrift in a world of casual murder, meaningless sex, and betrayal. After a job goes awry, his life is forever altered by a small, relentlessly upbeat, imaginary blue winged horse, who is voiced by Patton Oswalt.

  13. It is being reported that Amazon has cancelled Sneaky Peteafter three seasons. The news comes less than a month following the release of the drama's now-final run, which once again drew high critical praise.

The decision to ax the series is curious, given its strong reviews and purported popularity - Amazon has previously claimed it to be one of its top-streamed originals - but does not come as a complete surprise. The list of original series on the service to make it past the three-season mark is rather small. Only Bosch, The Man in the High Castle, Transparent, and Mozart in the Jungle have lasted for four or more seasons.

Co-created by Bryan Cranston, Sneaky Pete stars Giovanni Ribisi as a con man who is on the run from a dangerous gangster. Recently released from jail, he assumes the identity of his prison cellmate and reunites with the man's family in order to stay hidden from his past.
